Turnigy 9X

Turnigy 9X 9Ch Transmitter

This 9X Transmitter is fantastic. Or rather, for the money this radio is fantastic!!

That said, let’s evaluate why this statement …For the price that is asked for this Transmitter you take home a 2.4 GHz technology full programmable transmitter with 8 channels. I bought two!

Pros: This is what radio is on the market with the best quality / price ratio. By far.
Cons: The battery tray that comes standard is worth nothing. I switched to a solution with a 3s lipo.

Attention to the polarity of the battery. This radio has no protection and if the polarity is switched the radio crashes and burns !!… but nothing that we can not fix

“SWITCH ERROR” means you have one of the switches in the wrong position when you turn the radio on. They all need to be in the same “up” position.

Besides the price, this radio has numerous possibility of being transformed (DIY). On the web there are several proposals for new firmware with features that enhance and/or add to the v2 firmware what comes from factory.

I chose to leave the original firmware, but lay to waste the original battery holder and replace it with a 3s lipo . I do not fully charge the battery and use the storage function of  my charger. This solution has worked very well, but as the original LCD is hard to see in days with plenty sunshine, I left the radio on for a few days. The result was a dead battery. To eliminate this problem I added a Turnigy 9X LCD Backlight Kit – Blue (DIY). Now works just fine. This LCD Backlight should come as standard feature.

Another advantage is the price of the 9x 8Ch Receiver…Less than a standard servo. I’ve now one receiver per airframe.
